Chandigarh, 20 Nov

The Punjabi Sahit Sabha, D.A.V. College, Sector-10, Chandigarh, successfully organized a special lecture dedicated to the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji today, 20 November 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Conference Hall.

Dr. Amrit Pal Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of History, SGGS College, Chandigarh, was invited as the keynote speaker for the event. He presented Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s martyrdom within a historical perspective, discussing in detail the religious, social, and political circumstances of the 17th century.

He explained how the attacks on religious freedom during the Mughal rule, the pleas of the Kashmiri Pandits, and the suppression of human rights elevated the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji into a global symbol—an unparalleled sacrifice made for the protection of human rights and religious liberty.

Present on the occasion were Principal Dr. Mona Narang, Dr. Mandeep Kumar (Head, Department of Punjabi), Dr. Rajinder Singh, Dr. Harjeet Singh, and other faculty members.

Students and faculty listened to the lecture with great interest and appreciated the keynote speaker’s profound historical insight and analytical depth.
