PUNJAB ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS 2022: VALUABLES WORTH Rs 23.8 CRORES SEIZED IN PUNJAB AFTER ENFORCEMENT OF CODE: CEO PUNJAB

After Model Code of Conduct came into force in the state for Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections, various enforcement teams have seized valuables worth Rs 23.8 crore in violation of code besides confiscating unaccounted cash till January 12, 2022. Giving details in this regard on Thursday, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Punjab Dr S Karuna Raju said that the surveillance teams have seized 79766.512 litres of liquor worth Rs 24 lakh. Similarly, the enforcement wings have also recovered psychotropic substances amounting to Rs 23.366 crore besides confiscating unaccounted cash of Rs 4 lakhs, he added.

PUNJAB CM ANNOUNCES INCREASE IN MONTHLY EMOLUMENTS OF ANGANWARI WORKERS, MINI ANGANWARI WORKERS AND HELPERS

With a view to improve the lot of the Anganwari workers, the Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Tuesday announced hike in the monthly honorarium of over 53000 Anganwari workers, Mini Anganwari workers and the Helpers across the State. He also declared that all these workers would be now eligible for regular increase in their honorarium annually from January 1, 2023 onwards.

Soni hands over appointment letters to 190 Medical Officers

To further strengthen health care services in the state, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Om Prakash Soni here on Tuesday handed over appointment letters to 190 Medical Officers in a function held here at Punjab Bhawan. Mr. Soni informed that 35 Maternal Care Centers (21 District Hospitals, 11 Sub Division Hospitals and 3 Community Health Centers) have been established to provide better health services to the people of the state.

Punjab Assembly Elections 2022: Webcasting facilities at all 24689 polling stations in Punjab

To prevent any kind of alleged poll-related model code of conduct violations during the upcoming Punjab Assembly Elections 2022, the Punjab Chief Electoral Officer, on the directions of Election Commission of India, will arrange webcasting in all the 24689 polling stations in the state. "This is for the first time that 100% webcasting will be done at all the polling stations in Punjab," said Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Punjab Dr S Karuna Raju on Tuesday.

Dr. Verka explores possibility of tariff reduction in Power Purchase Agreements

New and Renewable Energy Minister Dr. Raj Kumar Verka has explored the possibility of tariff reduction in the existing Power Purchase Agreements through mutual agreement with solar and biomass power project developers in the state. In the meeting with solar and biomass power project developers at Punjab Bhawan today he informed the project developers that as the interstate and corporate taxes have reduced. Punjab Police recovers tiffin bomb, four hand grenades from Gurdaspur’s village

Close on the heels of the two Pakistan-ISI sponsored terror modules busted in Gurdaspur this week, Punjab Police on Thursday recovered another chunk of four hand grenades and one tiffin bomb concealed in a sack recovered from village Salempur Araiyan of the border district. Sharing details, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota said that keeping in view of the recent recoveries of RDX, hand grenades and pistols from the border district, strong static and shifting Nakas have been laid in entire district by all SHOs in the supervision of Gazetted Officers.

New Central Jail Goindwal Sahib to be operational in December: Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa

GURDASPUR SUGAR MILL’s CAPACITY TO BE ENHANCED TO 5000 TCD FROM EXISTING 2000: CHARANJIT SINGH CHANNI

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Saturday laid foundation stone to enhance the existing capacity from 2000 TCD to 5000 TCD in Cooperative Sugar MilL, Gurdaspur at a cost of Rs, 413.80 crore. After laying the foundation stone the Chief Minister addressing a gathering said that with increased capacity the Mill would crush daily 50,000 to 60,000 tons of sugarcane besides supplying 20mw power to state grid. He said that the project would be completed at a cost of Rs 413.80 crore including Rs. 369 crore is to be incurred on setup of plant,  machinery and civil works. Besides this, an ethanol plant of 120 KLPD capacity is also being established as the tenders were already floated, said the CM adding that with 5000 TCD capacity
