Filmmaker Ramesh Sippy has talked about when he first cast Amjad Khan as Gabbar in the blockbuster Sholay, many people doubted his choice and felt the late actor was like a "mouse" compared to the other major stars such as Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra.

However, Amjad's incredible performance proved everyone wrong and turned out to be an iconic superstar because of the villainous role he played.

Talking about casting controversy over Gabbar, Sippy told: “For those who did not like them they will say this only that many big stars are there and there is a mouse standing in front of them (itne saare badhe actor log hai aur unke saamne ek chuha khada kardiya).”

Actor-filmmaker Kunal Kemmu's directorial debut 'Madgaon Express', a buddy-comedy, has bagged three Screenwriters Association Awards nominations.

The film starring Divyenndu, Pratik Gandhi and Avinash Tiwary, is written and directed by Kunal, which was produced by Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment.

Reacting to his directorial debut receiving acclaim at the 6th edition of the SWA awards, Kunal said, "I am very happy and excited to be nominated in all three categories for my debut film. For all the love that 'Madgaon Express' has received, this is the first time that a work of mine has been acknowledged by the writing community itself."

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has now cleared director Mu Muran’s much-awaited thriller drama ‘Blackmail’, featuring actor, music director and producer G V Prakash in the lead, for release with a clean U/A certificate.

Son of Sardaar 2 is a Hindi-language comedy film directed by Vijay Kumar Arora. It is a standalone sequel to the 2012 action comedy film Son of Sardaar, and stars Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan and Sanjay Mishra. It is also the posthumous film of Mukul Dev. In the film, a man fakes being a war hero to assist a couple in gaining their parents' approval for their marriage.

Sachin-Jigar on ‘Pardesiya’: We wanted to create something timeless

Music composer duo Sachin-Jigar has spoken about “Pardesiya” from the upcoming film “Param Sundari” and said that they wanted to create something timeless.

Sachin-Jigar in a joint statement: "‘Pardesiya’ is that rare song where everything is aligned — the emotion, the voice, the writing, and the moment. We wanted to create something timeless, something that feels like it’s been living in people’s hearts for years even though it’s brand new.”

The two said that having singer Sonu Nigam sing it and that too, releasing it on his birthday, felt “cosmic.”

“There’s a certain kind of magic he brings, an ache and depth that can't be imitated. Krishnakali’s voice added a haunting, almost ethereal quality, and we’re so proud of the textures that emerged when all three voices came together,” they said.

Release of G V Prakash-starrer ‘Blackmail’ postponed

The release of director Mu Muran’s much-awaited thriller drama ‘Blackmail’, featuring actor, music director and producer G V Prakash in the lead, has now been postponed.

The film was originally scheduled to hit screens worldwide on August 1 this year.

On Thursday, JDS Film Factory, the production house that has produced the film, took to its X timeline to announce its decision to postpone the release of the film.

Ahaan Panday’s nephew River is best friends with ‘Krish Kapoor’ from ‘Saiyaara’

Actor Ahaan Panday has found a best friend for his character Krish Kapoor from ‘Saiyaara’ in his nephew River.

Ahaan’s sister Alanna Panday shared a string of pictures featuring River and Ahaan, wearing T-shirts with “Saiyaara” written on it.

Taking to the caption section, Alanna said: “@ahaanpandayy is my uncle, but Krish Kapoor is my best friend.”

Saiyaara is a musical romantic drama film directed by Mohit Suri. It stars debutant Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. The film follows Krish Kapoor, a troubled musician who forms a deep connection with Vaani Batra, a shy poet.
