Arrest of Over 35,000 Drug Peddlers in 249 Days Is Proof of AAP Government’s Determination; We Will Intensify This Battle in Tarn Taran: Harmeet Sandhu

Tarn Taran, November 6

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate for the Tarn Taran by-election Harmeet Singh Sandhu launded the decisive war being waged by the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann against drugs. He said that due to the AAP government’s firm commitment, the backbone of drug traffickers has now been broken, and the people of Tarn Taran have made up their minds to endorse the drug-free agenda in this by-election.

Referring to the latest data released by the Punjab Police, Harmeet Singh Sandhu said that on the 249th day of the “War Against Drugs”, the police arrested 97 more peddlers and recovered 1.3 kg of heroin and ₹3.5 lakh in drug money. This shows that the Mann government is tightening its grip on drug traffickers every single day. He added that while the previous governments merely talked, the Mann government has in just 249 days arrested 35,377 drug traffickers and sent them behind bars. This record, he said, reflects the AAP government’s unwavering resolve to eradicate drugs from their roots.

Sandhu stated that Tarn Taran is a border constituency, and saving the youth of this region from the clutches of drugs will be his topmost priority. He assured the people of Tarn Taran that after being elected MLA, he will work hand in hand with the Mann government to further intensify this war against drugs in the border area.

Praising the government’s three-pronged strategy, Enforcement, De-addiction, and Prevention, Sandhu said that the government is not only focusing on arrests but also ensuring the rehabilitation of youth who have fallen victim to addiction. He appealed to the people of the constituency to strengthen the hands of the AAP government and vote for him to ensure a bright and drug-free future for Tarn Taran.
