BJP-Akali Government Planted the Seeds of the Drug Menace, Destroying Punjab's Youth: Malvinder Kang

Chandigarh, May 28

The BJP is facing significant backlash after its Patiala councillor, Anuj Khosla, was revealed to have secured a bail bond for an accused drug smuggler. AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang launched a sharp critique of the BJP, alleging that the party serves as the chief protector of Punjab’s drug smugglers. He accused BJP leaders of persistently shielding traffickers and extending political patronage to them.

Kang showed the media a photograph of Anuj Khosla with BJP leader and former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and BJP National Secretary Tarun Chugh, clearly indicating that Khosla is a close associate of Captain Amarinder and Chugh.

Kang stated that Anuj Khosla is very close to Captain Amarinder Singh and has been organizing all his events in Patiala. Khosla has strong connections with all major BJP leaders and is often seen at BJP gatherings.

BJP councillor Anuj Khosla filled an affidavit on March 29, 2025, for securing the bail of Khushjot Singh, who was charged under the NDPS Act in a case related to drug trafficking.

Kang remarked that the Punjab Government is waging a War Against Drugs, to eradicate drugs from the state. As a result, the entire Punjab is united against drugs and drug smugglers. However, BJP leaders are busy securing bails for drug smugglers. Kang alleged that the BJP does not want Punjab to be free of drugs as many of its leaders have deep connections with drug smugglers.

He further said that the current drug menace in Punjab is a result of the seeds sown by the Akali-BJP government. They provided protection to drug smugglers, ruining the future of thousands of youth and destroying countless families. For their financial gains, they joined hands with drug dealers and promoted the drug trade, the consequences of which Punjab is facing today.

Kang stated that the AAP Government is committed to eradicating drugs from Punjab. Strict ctions are being taken against drug smugglers daily. Over the past two months, more than 10,000 smugglers have been arrested and thousands of kilograms of drugs have been seized.

On the matter of drugs, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's directive is very clear: whether it is high-ranking police officers like SSPs and SHOs or drug traffickers associated with politicians, strict action will be taken against all. The Mann Government follows a zero-tolerance policy towards drugs, crime, and corruption. There can be no compromise in such matters.
