Lucknow, 27 November || The problems of Samajwadi Party MP and former Minister of UP Govt Mohd Azam Khan are increasing day by day. Now he is found guilty in Jal Nigam recruitment scam. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of UP Police has sent a warrant to the Sitapur jail where Azam is lodged with his wife and son.

Azam Khan was Urban Development and Water Resources Minister in the SP government in UP. During his regime recruitment of around 1300 engineers and other officials had taken place in UP Jal Nigam and Azam Khan was the ex-officiochairman of the Jal Nigam Board. There were allegations that irregularties were carried out in the recruitment.

Later, on the direction of High Court the Yogi Government had ordered a probe into the scam and the case was handed over to the SIT. The SIT had lodged an FIR in this connection against Azam Khan and three officials. Now SIT has made Azam an accused and sent a warrant to the Sitapur jail where he is lodged at present. SIT, in this case, will now file a chargesheet in the court. This comes after the Allahabad High Court rejected the bail plea of Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam Khan in a forgery case.

It may be mentioned here that Azam khan with his MLA wife Tazin Fatima and son Abdullah Azam is lodged in Sitapur jail for several months for taking possession of government land in Rampur for his Jauhar University and getting a fake birth certificate of his son.
