Kolkata, 21 November || A day after an intensive 'war of words' between BJP and Trinamool Congress leaders over BJP's decision to appoint five senior central leaders to judge the party's prospect in 2021 Assembly elections in West Bengal, BJP MP Arjun Singh claimed that several TMC leaders and MPs were 'waiting on the fence' to join BJP anytime.
'It is only a matter of time when a number of senior TMC MPs who are frustrated with the activities of the party leadership and its anti people stance, would join BJP at appropriate time', claimed Arjun Singh here today causing a ripple in the political circles in the state.
Participating in a Chhat Puja programme in his parliamentary constituency at Barrackpore, Arjun Singh claimed that even senior TMC Lok Sabha member like Saugata Roy was among the five. Among other leaders might be state Transport minister and a former MP Subhendu Adhikari who had been expressing his displeasure about the party activities for the past few weeks, he said.
However, soon afterwards Saugata Roy categorically denied any such possibility even in his furthest dream and said he would better 'quit politics for ever rather than join BJP', which he described as a communal party. .
Meanwhile, he and several other leaders of TMC have slamed BJP for its decision to bring several senior organisational leaders to Bengal to ensure a comfortable victory of BJP next year. it as a mere attempt by the largest opposition party to project 'an outsider' in state politics as their undisputed leader, they said.
